General terms of use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
This is a translation. In case of any difference, the French version prevails.
- Jardingo is free and also works without an account.
- What you publish (photos, guestbook notes) remains yours; we only show it to the people who can see your garden.
- Be courteous: no insulting or unlawful content, and nothing that does not belong to you.
- The calendar's advice, the weather and plant identification are for guidance only. Never eat a plant on the strength of the app alone.
1. Purpose
Jardingo (the jardingo.app website and the Android and iOS apps) lets you map your garden, place your plants in it, follow a calendar of gardening tasks and visit your friends' gardens. These terms govern the use of Jardingo; the publisher is identified in the legal notice.
Using Jardingo, or creating an account, constitutes acceptance of these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Access and account
- Jardingo is free. Without an account, your data stays on your device.
- An account lets you back up your garden, find it again on your other devices and use the friends network. It is created with a username, an email address that you confirm and a password, or with your Google account.
- You provide accurate information and keep your password to yourself. Everything done from your account is deemed to have been done by you: if you think someone else is using it, change your password (your other devices will be signed out) and let us know.
- Your username is visible to other users: it must not impersonate anyone or be offensive.
- If you are under 15, ask a parent's permission before creating an account.
3. What you publish
You can publish content that other people can see: photos of plants, the names of your gardens and of your animals, notes left in a garden's guestbook. Who sees them depends on your settings (garden set to “Private” or visible to “Friends”); see the privacy policy.
- It remains yours. You only authorise us to host, reproduce and display it to the people who can see it, free of charge and for as long as it is online, for the sole purpose of running Jardingo. We do not use it for any other purpose and do not transfer it to anyone.
- You are responsible for it: you guarantee that you have the right to publish it (photos you took yourself, or with their author's consent).
The following content is prohibited:
- insulting, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, violent or sexual content;
- content that harasses or threatens someone, or that reveals personal information about others (address, telephone number…);
- content that infringes the rights of others (photos or texts that do not belong to you, trade marks);
- advertising or bulk messages (spam);
- and, more generally, any unlawful content.
4. Reporting and moderation
To report a note, a garden or a person, use the “Report” button in the app (the ⋮ menu of the note, of the garden you are visiting or of the friend), or write to contact@jardingo.app, stating the garden and the content concerned. The person reported is not told who reported them. We review every report as soon as we can. You can also block someone: you are no longer friends, they can no longer find you or send you a friend request, and you no longer see their notes. The owner of a garden can delete the notes left in their guestbook, and anyone can remove a friend.
In the event of a breach of these terms, we may remove content and, depending on the seriousness or in the event of a repeat breach, suspend or delete the account concerned, notifying its holder where possible.
5. Advice and information: for guidance only
- Calendar: the dates for pruning, sowing, planting and harvesting, and the watering, frost or heatwave alerts, are general guidelines. Your climate, your soil and your plants may require something different.
- Weather: it comes from Open-Meteo and may be inaccurate or unavailable.
- Plant identification: it is carried out by Pl@ntNet from your photo and may be wrong. Never eat a plant, berry or mushroom, or give it to an animal, on the strength of the identification alone. Some garden plants are toxic.
- Maps and terrain: aerial photos, cadastre (land registry), relief and buildings come from the IGN (the French national mapping agency). They do not constitute a boundary survey (bornage) or an official document.
This information does not replace the advice of a professional. You alone remain the judge of what you do in your garden.
6. Availability of the service
We do our best to keep Jardingo running continuously and to back up your data, but we cannot guarantee this: the service may be interrupted for maintenance, for updates or in the event of a failure. The app keeps working offline and synchronises your changes when the network comes back.
Jardingo may change: features may be added, modified or withdrawn. Some features may become paid; they will then be subject to separate terms of sale, presented before any payment.
7. Liability
Jardingo is provided free of charge, as is. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for indirect damage related to the use of the service (lost harvest, damaged plant, decision made on the basis of the calendar or the identification…), nor for content published by users, of which it has no knowledge before it is reported. Nothing in these terms limits the rights that the law guarantees you.
8. Intellectual property
The app, its name, its logo, its illustrations and its code belong to their author. You may use Jardingo for your personal use; any copying, resale or automated extraction of its content is prohibited. The map, weather and botanical data belong to their producers (see the legal notice).
9. Personal data
Its processing is described in the privacy policy: data collected, uses, retention periods and your rights.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Jardingo at any time and delete your account and all its data, directly from the app (account menu, “Delete my account”) or by writing to us (see the “Your rights” section of the privacy policy).
11. Changes to the terms
These terms may change along with the service. The date at the top of the page shows their latest version. In the event of a significant change, we will let you know in the app; continuing to use Jardingo constitutes acceptance of the new version.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a disagreement, first write to us at contact@jardingo.app so that we can seek an amicable solution. Failing that, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts in accordance with the ordinary rules of law.
